Gabriella Leonardi is a writer, director and bestselling poet whose work explores the darker sides of humanity through intimate, character-driven storytelling, often centred on female perspectives.

Her debut feature screenplay, THE LITTLE BOY AND THE DUCK ON A CLIFF’S EDGE, has received multiple international awards, including Best Drama Screenplay at The New York Screenwriting Awards and Overall Winner at the 2024 Gil International Screenwriting Awards. She has since completed several further feature scripts, including WELCOME TO ESCAPATORIA.

Gabriella is the author of THE ART OF A DAMAGED SOUL poetry series, which has topped the British and Irish poetry charts. Her work has drawn comparisons to Sylvia Plath for its raw and emotionally resonant exploration of love, loss and resilience. A third volume is forthcoming.
She recently founded her production company, Damaged Soul Productions, and directed her debut short film THE MIRROR THAT CONSUMES YOU, which has won multiple awards including Best Experimental Film at Cannes Independent Shorts 2026 and Best Cinematography at the Hollywood Discovery Awards 2026, and has been selected for the BAFTA-qualifying CBFF 2026.

Gabriella has experience on micro-drama/veritcal drama and understands exactly how these stories are built to connect with audiences quickly and emotionally. She has worked  on set in fast paced production environments and as a young writer she is immersed in modern viewing habits and online storytelling trends, She knows  what keeps audiences watching, emotionally invested, and coming back for the next episode in an increasingly competitive digital landscape.
A graduate of East 15 Acting School, Gabriella trained in acting, community theatre and circus. She is neurodivergent, lives with three disabilities, and is from a working-class background.
