Jake Vithana was chosen to be part of the BBC Writers Voices London cohort 2025 and is a gifted young screenwriter for television and film who has written eighteen original short films.

His films have enjoyed success on the International festival circuit, including THE PHOENIX which won Best Short Film at Paris ARFF 2021 and was nominated for Best Original Screenplay at the National Youth Film Awards 2022.  After a degree in Philosophy & Politics he returned to his first love of writing and filmmaking.   He is a talented dramaturg and worked with performer/writer Alex Hill on Alex’s debut play WHY I STUCK A FLARE UP MY ARSE FOR ENGLAND which has garnered 5* reviews internationally, and played repeated years at the Edinburgh Fringe since 2023

He has recently written and produced six new short films for The Arts Educational Schools London, as well as pilots for three new original TV series BROWN SUGAR, THE DISTANCE and THE MEDIATOR.   He has also been developing original TV series with the BBC Voices scheme,  and has been working on a feature film.

Jake is committed to delivering impactful content and pushing creative boundaries in the industry.
