Mina is an early career writer and director from a British Asian working-class background. She is currently writing CLOSING TIME (w/t) a 60′ film produced by LA Productions which is part of Channel 5’s new wave of PLAY FOR TODAY championing new voices in British drama. Her pilot script MONSTER was selected from over 3,500 scripts when she was invited to be a part of BBC Writers Room – Drama, in 2021, following her participation in the BBC New Voices scheme. She was then part of CBBC’s scripted in-house Mentorship in 2022. Mina has previously worked on a number of TV shows including writing for THE BEAKER GIRLS, the Tracy Beaker spin off, two episodes of the BAFTA award winning CBeebies show JO JO AND GRAN GRAN and an episode of BBC DOCTORS, and 4 episodes of the BAFTA nominated CBeebies ALPHABLOCKS.
Mina has recently been longlisted for the Slick Films Fund with her short film MAYA. The fund is designed to discover the next generation of talent and filmmakers with strong voices and fearless ideas.
Mina has worked in theatre as an assistant director and director since 2015. Through a partnership scheme between the SKY ARTS channel and Theatre Royal Stratford East Mina was invited to become an Associate Artist where she directed a 45-minute digital film for the theatre called HYSTERICAL (Lyn Gardner Pick of the Week and 4* reviews) and created, lead, and produced a project called SLAMBITION for d/Deaf, Disabled, and neurodivergent artists which culminated in a monologue slam night.
In 2023 she was invited to join the inaugural ALUNA Film Labs; ALUNA is a new production company headed by Lauren Dark and Vanessa Kirby. That same year Mina was also long listed for the national Pitch Film Fund with her 2-minute storyboard video pitch for a short film called MOHAWK. Recently Mina has completed a Director’s Course at NFTS and from 2023 to 2024 Mina she took part in the Certificate for Filmmaking course there, to continue to develop her skills in filmmaking and had the opportunity to shadow on the set of the hit BBC Comedy/Drama BOARDERS. In 2024 Mina’s short film script MUMMY’S BOY was longlisted for the BFI short film fund and the Slick Film Fund and was placed as a semi-finalist for the international Shore Scripts Short Film Fund. Most recently Mina’s short film script HOT SAUCE reached the quarter finals of the BBC Comedy/Female Pilot Club’s 2025 comedy initiative.
