Sheila began her writing career as a staff writer for Nelvana (now Corus Entertainment) and quickly went on to carve a niche for herself in the children’s entertainment market. She lives for character-driven stories, cleverly crafted plots and family, and adores the world of children’s television that brings these three together.
Sheila is an award-winning screenwriter and producer who has written, developed, and/or story edited both animated and live-action children’s series for Netflix, Nickelodeon, Disney, PBS, Treehouse, BBC/CBEEBIES, NBC, CBC, KETNET, TVO and Discovery Kids. In the past, she’s developed and story edited shows such as MAX & RUBY, CORN & PEG, MIA & CODIE, CAILLOU, CHIRP, ROB THE ROBOT and ELLA THE ELEPHANT, and has written for over 70 different series, including PAW PATROL, INTERSTELLAR ELLA, PURST: AGENT BINKY, MIGHTY EXPRESS, ALMA’S WAY, HERO ELEMENTARY, REMY & BOO, BUBBLE’S HOTEL, CAT IN THE HAT KNOWS A LOT ABOUT THAT, NINA’S WORLD, TERRIFIC TRUCKS, FLOOGALS, KATE & MIM-MIM, DOKI, SUPER WHY, STELLA AND SAM, IMAGINATION MOVERS, FRANNY’S FEET, JULIUS JUNIOR, THE SAVE-UMS and HARRY’S BUCKET FULL OF DINOSAURS. Sheila has been nominated for an Emmy and Gemini award, and has won both an EMA and a Genesis award for her work on the hit Disney series, HANDY MANNY. Additionally, Sheila is both Writer/Producer of the paranormal thriller THE DOGS – a feature film adaptation of the award winning YA novel, released in 2023. The film has been nominated for Best Picture, and won Best Female Director, at the Montreal Independent Film Festival (2023).
Sheila is both a UK and Canadian citizen.
