Janet Fillingham of Fillingham Weston Associates
We salute Janet Fillingham on her highly respected career in the industry with her gold standard insight and passion for clients and their projects, and for being an approachable and very supportive agent. After over 40 years as a literary agent in television, film, radio and stage, Janet is now stepping back from active agenting. From talent-spotting Sue Townsend, to working both with other emerging writers and those who are well-established, she has steered many writers’ and directors’ careers over the years.
Janet founded Janet Fillingham Associates (JFA) in 1992 following 13 years at Anthony Sheil Associates (later Sheil Land Associates), and 2 years ago JFA rebranded as Fillingham Weston Associates (FWA), continuing Janet’s legacy. FWA offers the ethos Janet created with her boutique agency, of hands-on, approachable and flexible representation combined with the clout and tenacity of larger agencies. Kate Weston who has worked closely with Janet for over a decade, will head up the agency from May 2023 and Janet will continue to provide consultancy advice to FWA.
On a personal note Janet wants to extend her thanks to everyone and says:
“After many happy and fulfilling years of client representation, I am now stepping back from active agenting. I want to thank all of my companions on the road of creativity and brilliant storytelling whether as originators or as enablers. We are privileged to work in a vital sector of the economy and our duty of care to past, present and future generations to speak truth to power and to reflect a multiplicity of voices and experiences is arguably stronger now than ever. May the Force be with you all, to coin a phrase!”
