REBEL is a new opera in development, inspired by the story of Ethel Smyth – exploring her life, music and achievements – and a taster of the first scene “The Stormy Petrel” was recently shared at 2024 Smyth symposium in Dublin commemorating 80 years since her death.
The project has been supported by Midlands4Cities, the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and the Peggy Ramsay Foundation.
