This summer, Shakespeare in the Squares returns to the great outdoors with a fresh and vibrant production of LOVE’S LABOUR’S LOST bringing wit, romance and music to audiences across London.
This year marks an exciting milestone for Shakespeare in the Squares as it celebrates its 10th anniversary year. A not-for-profit organisation, the touring theatre company stages a Shakespeare play in London garden squares every summer, tailoring each production to its unique setting and working closely with local committees and organisations to create a true community celebration.
Over the past decade, the organisation has built a strong reputation for making Shakespeare accessible, playful and engaging, bringing open-air performances to beautiful garden squares and community spaces across the city.
At the heart of this year’s production is a commitment to clarity, energy and joy – hallmarks of the company’s approach to Shakespeare.
Shakespeare in the Squares has long championed the idea that Shakespeare should be for everyone, removing barriers and creating welcoming, relaxed environments where audiences can experience these timeless stories in a fresh way. Their productions incorporate movement and a strong sense of ensemble, ensuring that each performance feels immediate and alive. Music is also a key part in the storytelling of Shakespeare in the Squares and we’re delighted that our client Annemarie Lewis Thomas returns to the creative team as Musical Director, playing a key role in shaping the musical landscape of the production.
The company is also committed to supporting emerging talent, providing a platform for young theatre practitioners and introducing audiences to the stars of the future, while paying actors Equity-recommended rates and maintaining a high professional standard. Productions are funded through a combination of ticket sales, grants and sponsorship from local businesses and organisations.
The company is proudly supported by its Patron, Dame Judi Dench, whose longstanding association reflects its commitment to excellence and accessibility in theatre.
