We are delighted to share that BOYHOOD, a powerful new play by our client Conor Hunt, will run at Pleasance Theatre from 14–31 October.
Presented by Attic Theatre Company and directed by Tom Bellerby, the production explores masculinity, grief, friendship and the realities of growing up through the story of Jay, a young man standing on the edge of adulthood as he navigates mates, music and unexpected fatherhood.
Set to a pulsing live-looped soundtrack created by multi-award-winning hip-hop theatre maker Conrad Murray, BOYHOOD promises an urgent and emotionally charged theatrical experience, blending raw storytelling with music and spoken word influences.
The production is described as an “unfiltered rollercoaster through grief, loyalty, friendship and working out what growing up actually means,” taking audiences from park swings and pints to playgrounds and parenthood in a story that is both brutally honest and heartbreakingly poetic.
Conor Hunt hails from Oldham and is a graduate of Royal Central School of Speech and Drama and the Dramatic Writing MA at Central Saint Martins, where they graduated with Distinction. Their tutors included John Yorke, Rob Drummer, Lucy Kerbel and Tony Clarke.
Conor’s writing is particularly interested in everyday humour and celebrating ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances, with work spanning theatre, television and film development.
Their first stage play, THE F WORD, previewed at Theatre503 before a critically acclaimed run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and a subsequent London transfer to the Drayton Arms Theatre. The play was also long-listed by BBC Writersroom.
Their 2020 play WHO CARES? ran at the Vault Festival, with critic Lyn Gardner describing it as “crucial theatre.” Conor was also commissioned by Boundless Theatre as part of the Headlong Signal Fires project, working alongside Nassim Soleimanpour.
Alongside their writing career, Conor has worked with organisations including the National Theatre, Frantic Assembly and Jamie Lloyd Company, and is currently Senior Creative Learning Manager (West End) for Ambassador Theatre Group. They were also part of the team recognised with a UK Theatre Award for Workforce in 2023.
Tickets for BOYHOOD are now on sale.
