Miranda writes comedy and drama for Film, TV, stage and radio, as well as musicals (book and lyrics). With a background in early years education, she is also an experienced writer for children.  As a disabled writer, she can write about disability and visible difference with an authentic diverse voice, currently still under-represented within the industry.

She is the creator and writer of 2 x 15 minute standalone comedy drama monologues commissioned by the BBC starring Abigail Cruttenden and Crystal Marshall entitled FACE IT on BBC IPlayer from 2021, and supported by Culture in Quarantine. FACE IT: LEONIE (about a woman with a facial difference) was selected for a number of film festivals including the Hastings Women’s Film Festival 2022. FACE IT: ABBEY (about an older woman determined to hold back the years) was screened at the Women over Fifty Film Festival in London 2024, with a panel discussion on the subject of Menopause, the subject of the day, including Miranda.

Miranda is currently working on a MR TUMBLE, SOMETHING SPECIAL script for BBC Studios Kids & Family and has recently written for four children’s television projects including award-winning MIXMUPS broadcast on Milkshake! Channel 5, a positive disability stop-motion series. MIXMUPS, a finalist for Best Pre-School Show in the Broadcast Awards 2026 and 2025, for the Kidscreen Inclusivity Award 2025 and winner of the RNIB Design for Everyone See Differently Award 2024.  MIXMUPS THE CHRISTMAS MIX was a limited cinema release of 4 x15 min including episodes written by Miranda, in December 2025.

Other projects for Miranda are the preschool series for Blue Zoo, aired on CBeebies WONDERBLOCKS, and two  new shows also on CBeebies: PLAYTIME TOWERS with live characters and a heavy emphasis on visual and physical performance and imaginative play for young viewers and the innovative animation series RAFI THE WISHING WIZARD, which premiered as part of Manchester Animation Festival 2025 airing on CBeebies from Spring 2026.  

Miranda’s theatre work includes being commissioned to write 2023’s pantomime for The Roses theatre in Tewkesbury, collaborating on the comedy with Maurice Gran (Marks & Gran) and her contemporary adaptation of the timeless fairy tale of BEAUTY AND THE BEAST brought a fresh twist to a beloved classic.   She has written extensively for theatre and was librettist for ACROSS THE SKY, a community opera shortlisted for a Royal Philharmonic Society Award.

She was named as the most nominated favourite writer of disability by Writers Guild of Great Britain members in a UK Disability History Month poll in 2021 and is Co-Chair of the Equality and Diversity Committee for the Guild.  She was a panellist advocating for disability representation in writers’ rooms at the Children’s Media Conference 2024.and host for a WRITING INCLUSIVITY THAT LASTS session for the Children’s Media Conference 2026.

Other highlights have included GIGGLEBIZ for CBeebies, DIDDY TV for CBBC, and a musical FLY EDDIE FLY, about Olympic legend Eddie the Eagle, starring the man himself as an interactive narrator. She has worked as a topical gag writer for BBC Radio 4 on flagship comedies THE NOW SHOW and THE NEWS QUIZ, and is the author of several children’s books.

Before writing full-time, Miranda worked in early years, education and playwork.  She lectured in early years, worked as a nursery education inspector for Ofsted, won a National Excellence in Childcare Award and wrote several early years textbooks. She also worked in special education and with Makaton.   She brings a joyful affinity with children to her work for young audiences.
