Morag Fullarton is a Glasgow based director and writer who has directed theatre, film and television throughout the UK and abroad for many years. In 2025 she was made Associate Director of Perth Theatre and Concert Hall and her play SUNSET BOULEVARD: THE BACKSTAGE CUT will be performed there during 2026.
Most recently she has directed the teaser for WAX FRUIT television drama series. It’s an iconic saga following the stratospheric rise of the Moorhouse family in Victorian-era Glasgow, to be produced by Little White Rose Films, adapted from Guy McCrone’s best-selling novels and featuring a star cast including Ashley Jensen, Shirley Henderson and Bill Paterson. Morag has also been directing RIVER CITY for BBC Scotland, and was director of the new live-action series for CBBC of Julia Donaldson’s popular PRINCESS MIRROR-BELLE which aired from November 2021 and on BBC iPlayer. She has also created a comedy drama format for development with BBC Studios.
Previous television work includes directing BAFTA award nominated returning series such as SCOTT & BAILEY and her Emmy nominated production of AT HOME WITH THE BRAITHWAITES, and VON TRAPPED for Granada Television, REBUS and TAGGART for STV, 2000 ACRES OF SKY, MADAME MONTAND AND MRS MILLER and BAFTA winning THIS LIFE for the BBC.
She has written for the COMIC STRIP, TAGGART, RIVER CITY, BORDERLINE, WILDCAT, Dundee Rep (the panto), many fringe shows and productions at Oran Mor, the Scottish Youth Theatre and has taken part in extensive workshops with both Dario Fo’s company in Milan and the Berliner Ensemble.
Theatre credits include the internationally performed CASABLANCA: THE GIN JOINT CUT, award-winning MISTERO BUFFO with Robbie Coltrane (where he played a cast of thousands) and HONKY TONK ANGEL and her adult pantomimes CINDERELLA 2: I MARRIED A NUMPTY and RAB HOOD AND THE SHERIFF OF SHETTLESTON have received 5 star reviews at Oran Mor in 2021 and 2022. In 2023 DORIS DOLLY & THE DRESSING ROOM DIVAS ran over Christmas in a new production and 2024 saw her play CASABLANCA THE GIN JOINT CUT with a new production at Perth Theatre and a return to Oran Mor again in 2025. Her latest seasonal play is IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE…MOSTLY with a 5 star run at Oran Mor Christmas 2025.
Morag was co-Artistic Director of the award-winning A Play, A Pie and A Pint at Oran Mor in Glasgow from 2016-2020, “a bedrock of the Scottish theatre industry”.
